Wintergreen Martini

There really isn't a wintergreen flavored liqueur, but I love the taste and wanted to come up with some sort of equivalent in martini form. So I was excited when I found a collection of concentrated flavored candy oils at the local supermarket with wintergreen extract amongst them.

I didn't want to detract from the delicate flavor, so I knew vodka would be the base this cocktail. But I didn't want to have just a vodka martini either. After playing around sniffing and tasting various bottles, I came up with the following recipe. The elderflower flavored St. Germain along with the vanilla cognac is nice and subtle just by itself and became a great vehicle for carrying the wintergreen flavor.
  • 2 oz Premium Vodka
  • 2 oz St. Germain Liqueur
  • 1 oz Meukow VS Vanilla Cognac Liqueur
  • 2 drops Lorann Wintergreen Concentrated Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Grenadine
Chill an up glass with crushed ice and water. Use an eyedropper or bar straw to measure 2 drops of oil. Shake the ingredients minus the grenadine with ice in a shaker until it sweats. Strain into the glass and garnish by slowly pouring a small spoon of grenadine into the bottom.
